Foundation in Lens: Inauguration Step by Step

A Significant Milestone for Culture and Art

The Opale Foundation in Lens has reached a major milestone with the inauguration of its new wing. This event, which took place on December 17, 2023, not only marked the impressive expansion of the Foundation but also its fifth anniversary. It was also the day of the launch of the remarkable exhibition HIGH FIVE!

Aboriginal Art at the Heart of the Opale Foundation

Aboriginal art is now the focal point of the Opale Foundation, illustrated by a fascinating Aboriginal artwork adorning the center’s façade. The new library on Aboriginal art and innovative installations transform the Foundation into a hub of cultural encounters and discoveries.

Impressive Expansion: New Wing and Its Features

The new wing, funded by donors like Bérengère Primat and Swiss institutions, includes a library, an auditorium, a conference room, and new storage spaces. This 12 million francs investment underscores the Foundation’s commitment to promoting and disseminating Aboriginal art in Europe, a unique initiative for a contemporary art center.

HIGH FIVE!: An Innovative Exhibition

The new HIGH FIVE! exhibition features an exceptional collaboration with 26 Swiss cultural figures, such as Kevin Germanier, Sasha Huber, Namsa Leuba, Noémie Schmidt, and Pierre Magistretti. Each personality selected an Aboriginal artwork from the Foundation’s collections to dialogue with a piece of their choice, creating a unique visual experience and enriching cultural exchange.
